I’m reading “The Third Reich in Power” by Richard J. Evans. Trump’s people are doing many of the things the Nazis did, though so far they are not killing anyone other than Ukrainians. Trump’s second (?) wife said he liked to read Hitler’s speeches. It’s hard to imagine Trump reading anything, but he was younger then. And it’s easy to imagine Trump whisperer Stephen Miller reading the collected works of Hitler and Goebbels.

As a White fella, other White fellas have often felt comfortable telling me these important things. They were always a little surprised when I called bullshit. I haven’t had one do these sorts of conversations in a long time since they now size me up and figure me for a Woke type.
"make the trains run on time" was a campaign & policy platform of Mussolini's fascists — but the fact that explicit follow-through and focus resulted in a beief improvement (largely cosmetic, according to that one r/AskHistorians post i just forgot to clip) in Italy's rail network (before WW2 did it no real favors whatsoever) is at best a misdirection by hagiographers. Not much different from theological sleight of hand like "the New Testament says Peace on Earth → Christianity says you're welcome any time peace ever occurs anywhere" or "God is Love, how dare you puny mortals pretend you invented it!"
